Quote of the Day

Be not afraid of going slowly, be afraid only of standing still.
Chinese Proverb
As long as you’re moving and going in the right direction that is all that matters. It doesn’t matter how long it’s taking you. The point is, you’re getting there, you’re working to reach a goal. We all go at do things at different paces in life.

Quote Of The Day

Better to be known as a sinner than a hypocrite.

Proverb

I think we all contradict ourselves at one point in time. I think its perfectly normal. It doesn't bother me as long as you own up to it. Then you'll just be considered "bad" and you did a bad thing. Oh well, life continues.

What pisses me off is when people still deny that they contradicted themselves when its very obvious. It shows me that you're too stubborn to admit your faults. It shows me that you'll never break old habits, you'll never learn.

Just own up to it! Live and learn!

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn
(May 4,1929 - January 20,1993)

I adore Audrey Hepburn! She was such a classic beauty. She was unlike all the other Hollywood starlets during her time. She wasn't curvaceous, she wasn't a sex pot; Audrey was this skinny old thing but nevertheless just as gorgeous, if not more gorgeous. She was a style icon and great actress.

What I adored most about her was spirit, her endeavors outside of the acting world. She is someone I still look up to even after her death. She kind of steered me in the direction I'm headed towards with my studies and career.Audrey Hepburn is a great role model.

I think if you watch the videos below, you'll get a better understanding of who she was. Maybe you'll learn to love her just as much as I do

What For?

The past few days I've been going back listening to my Rooney albums. Rooney is one of my favorite bands ever! They're songs are so melodic. If I could describe them, I'd say they're a cross between the Beach Boys and the Beatles. There's no denying where they're from when you hear their sound. I have mad love for this band. Gotta love and rep for my CA bands =)

Anyways, so one of their songs is called What For and I think its a beautiful song and so relevant to today. All I hear coming out of peoples mouths is how they deceive/play n&*(as AND B^%$#es and make them feel like they actually like them, when in fact they don't. They just want to get their thrills in and then discard of the other person as soon as they're bored with them.

How can people be so cold-hearted and insensitive to the feelings of others? How can they pretend to be someone they're not and make someone fall for that fake-being/persona? In the end, they just leave and the other person gets hurt because they actually believed them. They thought that the other person really did love them and cared for them, when really they were just using them. I don't ever ever ever intend on hurting someone like that.

Below are the lyrics & video....Enjoy!

What For lyrics

You don't know what's right anymore
You think your love is just a score
Are you too young or afraid to grow up?
You can work this out if you both try
It's hard to cheat but harder to lie
Is this what you want or just a passing thought?

Maybe you should think about it
Before you go and break her heart
Maybe you need more time to decide

Ask yourself "what for?
What for, what for, what for?"

You painted a picture she wanted to see
You can laugh this one off but it's not funny
She's given you everything she has
Oh oh

Maybe you should think about it
Before you go and break her heart
Maybe you need more time to decide

Ask yourself, "what for?
What for, what for, what for?"

You wanted her and you got her
But you're still so careless with your words
If you let her go, she'll move on
Find someone, she's never coming back
How can you live with that?

Maybe you should think about it
Before you go and break her heart
Maybe you need more time to decide
So you should think about it some more

Ask yourself, "what for?"
(I know it sounds like the same old line)
What for?
(I know it seems like the same old guy)
What for?
(Maybe I don't know how to treat you right)
What for?
(Maybe you'll meet someone to know your life)
What for?
(You said I lied since the day we met)
What for?
(But I meant every word I said)
What for?
(Someday you'll miss every single day we spent)
What for?

Quote of the Day

What's terrible is to pretend that the second-rate is first-rate, that you don't need love when you do or that you like your work when you know quite well you're capable of better.

Doris Lessing (1919 - ?) British Writer

YES! Someone who understands! There are too many people settling for what will do for now, rather than holding out on settling until they get what they are worthy of. I cannot permit myself to do that. No I'm not talking about little things like settling for Swiss cheese when they don't have muenster cheese or something like that! Life issues. I'll talk about amore'

On Love/Liking A Person: I can't fake a relationship. As soon as I realize I don't like a person or are not feeling it, then I won't go any further and lead a person on. I'll discontinue the hanging out process to avoid having them fall for me even more. I don't want to hurt their feelings. I have a conscience. I wouldn't  like anyone to do that to me, so why would I do that to someone else? Its just cruel. Unless I truly and utterly feel a deep connection with the individual, if I really am attracted to them then I will pursue it; but not without a little more investigating. I've had friends who would lead people on just to fulfill their needs of having someone to give them attention. They weren't their type to begin with, but they went ahead with it. It honestly hurts my heart to see that. I'd rather save the person some time and end it asap before they get anymore invested in me.

Don't go into relationships if you're not certain of it, if you are settling for the 2nd-rate.

Artist Spotlight: Uffie

"Yes I'm Uffie and I ain't giving a fuck...."

I've known of Uffie for quite some time now. I first discovered Uffie's music a few years back on a friends profile in the "then" popular networking site myspace (r.i.p.)...I was like who the f&*k is this chick? She was rapping in an English accent and talking about being a hot chick and not sucking d&*( and all this other mess...It hella had me laughing!...It was absurd but nevertheless entertaining and kind of infectious and charming? LOL

So from there, I had to research her....turns out this English-rapping chick really isn't British. Born Anne-Catherine Hartley, she was originally from Florida. She moved around a lot in her childhood with her father. Around 15, she moved over to Paris where she became involved in the music and dance scene. In 2006 she was signed to Ed Banger records based off her single "Pop The Glock"; a collaborated with Dj Feadz (her fiance)...She's an '87 baby like me too! Yay!

She still hasn't released an album, just singles, but after 4 years in the making they have set for her freshman album "Sex Dreams & Denim Jeans" to be released in early 2010! I hope some of you learn to love her music. I certainly do.

Here is the video to her first single POP THE GLOCK with some lyrics

Eva Simons - Silly Boy

FYI (_Title has link to her website_ )

There's this song that I heard on Tiesto's clublife podcast a few weeks ago. He always mixes current and classic songs in the dance/electronica world....Its absolute a must-subcribe-to podcast if you love that kind of music!

Anyways, the song is by Eva Simons and it is titled "Silly Boy"...
NO PEOPLE! THIS ISN'T RIHANNA, THIS ISN'T LADY GAGA!

I think the actual single release was earlier this summer. So if you listen to the song, its basically about how this ex of hers is trying to reach out to her now after they broke up. She wants nothing to do with him. He's a silly boy to think that she'll take him back ;)

I agree. Maybe its because I'm young and haven't had anyone worthy of going back with...I know my worth and I'm above it all (not trying to sound conceited honestly). I think once its done and over with, that's it. i don't like repeating things and that includes boys ;)

Believe it or not this 24yr old Dutch artist has been out since 2004 when she won a reality talent show called Popstars. She was in a girl band called Raffish for a while. Silly boy is her first solo single...She's still working on her album....I can't wait to hear it....I hope its good!

Quote of The Day

"Half the world is composed of people who have something to say and can't, and the other half who have nothing to say and keep on saying it".
-Robert Frost

Today I'm not necessarily addressing the quote precisely. I'm just going to talk about what came to mind.....

Some of the most profound, intelligent, & admired individuals are the ones who rarely say a word. Some of the most annoying and idiotic people on earth are the ones who keep talking and honestly have no "silencio" (silence) button on them. (its not always the case but this is the case i'd like to discuss, so hush yo mouth hehe)

I've noticed that sometimes the ones that keep talking incessantly really are rather like a baby in the beginning stages of life who's learning to speak. You hear a whole lot 'o' nothing basically... "goo goo ga ga" = nada! Nothing makes sense, some things are absurd, some are offensive and insensitive and just uncalled for. They just love talking for the sake of talking. I think some do it just for attention by their peers. I can only take so much of the ramblings from people before I get tired of being around them.

The quieter ones are usually the wisest of all. By allowing themselves to sit back and observe their surroundings, they are able to gather their thoughts in their heads before saying anything. When they finally do say something its soooooo insightful! You should really pay attention to them although they are quiet mainly. =)

Don't get me wrong, I love people that talk alot, but just not the ones that don't think before they say what they say. I love meaningful conversations, not stupid mindless jibber jabber. Part of the process of life is learning. If you're talking 99.9% of the time, you're not learning shit (pardon my french)! Its also cool to just lay back and chill and take in everything around you! You must be comfortable with silence. You must be open and willing to hear others out, to just exist and not say a word.

Quote of the Day

I think this is something I'll try to do daily on this blog....
I'm gonna have more downtime after this week to focus on my hobbies =)

Today's quote of the day :
"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."
Albert Schweitzer
(1875-1965) German theologian, philosopher, and physician.

I definitely learned this the hard way. I've just always had instilled in my head that I was going to be some successful rich girl once I finished at the state university.

I didn't really care about what I had to study to get there. When I first put in my applications for college I chose Nutritional Science as my major, just because I saw that my aunt was a Nutritional Science major and she earned a lot of money. Money was what I thought would bring me happiness.

So years went by and then I started going into my major core classes and a started doing poorly in those classes. I had no motivation to listen, to study...I was just a body in a classroom counting down when class would be over so I could go on with my day, wasting it away. My head was in another place; I was off in my own world, dreaming mostly.

This past year I had to really sit down and reevaluate my situation...Is college for me? Do I really want to study Nutritional Science? Do I really want to just work full-time already and now earn a degree? I thought about what it is that I wanted, day after day, after day. With the recession and everything I concluded I should stay in college and I wanted to stay in college. I notice I do things much better if its something that I love doing, something that I have a passion for.

My life dream is to travel the world and help other people. I'm very giving by nature as my friends & family can tell you. I'm also very outgoing and adventurous and I love to travel. I mean, even a little joy ride excites me! lol...So i figured I would be of better use to the world and bring about my own happiness if I were doing both things. So now i'm studying Global Studies and I'm so happy about it! =) So i'm definitely not one of those 4yrs straight of college and out into the work force kind of gal. Since i'm now starting this, i expect at least 2yrs more of schooling.

NI MODO!(Oh well/who cares) Its what I have a passion for, its something that makes me smile just thinking about it.

Do stay true to yourself. Do what you love doing. If you have a love for something you are more motivated to accomplish it, to perfect it.

Quote of the Day

"Hatred is gained as much by good works as by evil. " -Niccolo Machiavelli

Today is a very chill day and I'm just reading over quotes. It helps me clear my mind or get a better sense of why things happen. I have to agree with what Machiavelli is trying to say here.

What he's basically saying is that you can be the nicest person in the world who is out there doing great things and you will still have just about the same amount of enemies or people that dislike you just as much as someone who only commits evil acts.

I feel like people put into their heads that they won't like a person even before really getting to know them. Sometimes its just pure jealousy/envy that makes one hate someone. They have what they want, or they're doing what they've always wanted to do.

I've just learned from experience not to bother with people like that. I'm not an absolutely wretched individual. I think I'm a good person. I mean, I mind my business, go to school, work, partake in some hobbies of mine, and just enjoy time with my family and friends. I don't think that just to hate me. I never wish evil on others. I let karma handle that.

Just be who you are and the people that really matter will be there to support you and love you.
