Poetry

I found a website w/ a top100 list of friendship poems...one of the ones that I rather liked was Piano by Lynn Smiley...
Piano
My soul is the piano, his words are the keys.
Together we compose, the best of symphonies.

How my soul replays his words of the day.
Like a composer writing a play.

I hear the music, as he strikes a key.
an orchestra, is what I see.

Two soul that share a common ground.
a friendship they have found.

What is a piano, without the player.
It's like a soul, without a desire.

It sits alone in the dark,
waiting for someone to light a spark.

A hope or a desire,
waiting for someone to inspire.

To play a song of the heart,
a song of two souls that will never depart.

In this poem, Smiley is using a piano to symbolize the deep friendship that she has with her best friend. They go hand in hand and compliment one another.

Quote of the Day

We must treasure the achievers of our land because it's they who raise the sights of all the others.
--Unknown Source

Sometimes I just feel like we don't give enough credit to the people who deserve it. Sometimes achievements go unnoticed or others talk down on them. Be conscious. Praise is always needed every once in a while to assure a person that they are doing good and to keep going and striving for more. Without them, we wouldn't be the modern people that we are now. They are our innovators, they are society's light.

Travel Destination : Ibiza

I have such a big love for the world, the unknown, adventure, and travel. The world is my candy store and I want to try them all out. I think I will start posting more frequently locations that I so badly want to visit.

One place that excites me is Ibiza. It is a dream of mine to visit Ibiza in the summer. I hope to visit within the next 2-4 years. We'll see what happens ;)

Ibiza is 79 km off the coast of Valencia, Spain in the Mediterranean Sea, and is part of the Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, & Formentera). Ibiza is the third largest of the four islands that make up the Balearic Islands. The climate doesn't drastically change during seasons. Ibiza has hot summer nights and not so cold winters.

In the 1950's Ibiza began to thrive in art culture, and in the 1960's it was made popular by "flower-children".

The main languages spoken there are Spanish and Catalan. Tourists need not to worry because they also speak English, German and Russian, due to the massive influx of tourists coming from England, France, Germany, and Scandinavia.

There is much that one can do to enjoy themselves in Ibiza. There are various nightclubs, bars, and casinos that one can go to. It is said that Ibiza gets filled with visitors at the start of June. Nightclubs "Space" and "DC10" usually kick-off the summer with large scale events. World renowned DJ's have spun at the nightclubs in Ibiza, including my ever so beloved Tiesto ;).

During the day one can participate in water sports in the warm waters of Ibiza. They have parasailing, surfing, wind surfing, waterskiing, sailing, and etc. If water sports are not really your thing, there's always horseback riding or you can take a tour around the historic Ibiza. Festivals are always an option as well.

In the summer, Es Cana Hippy Market is open to shop and buy souvenirs. It was started in the 60's to draw more hippies in. Year round, Las Dalias Hippy Market is open for locals and tourists to spend their dollars there. Las Dalias Hippy Market get's really crowded.

As you can see there are lots of things you can do in Ibiza. I'm more drawn towards the natural beauty of the island and incredible nightlife.

Quote of the Day

Be not afraid of going slowly, be afraid only of standing still.
Chinese Proverb
As long as you’re moving and going in the right direction that is all that matters. It doesn’t matter how long it’s taking you. The point is, you’re getting there, you’re working to reach a goal. We all go at do things at different paces in life.

Quote Of The Day

Better to be known as a sinner than a hypocrite.

Proverb

I think we all contradict ourselves at one point in time. I think its perfectly normal. It doesn't bother me as long as you own up to it. Then you'll just be considered "bad" and you did a bad thing. Oh well, life continues.

What pisses me off is when people still deny that they contradicted themselves when its very obvious. It shows me that you're too stubborn to admit your faults. It shows me that you'll never break old habits, you'll never learn.

Just own up to it! Live and learn!

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn
(May 4,1929 - January 20,1993)

I adore Audrey Hepburn! She was such a classic beauty. She was unlike all the other Hollywood starlets during her time. She wasn't curvaceous, she wasn't a sex pot; Audrey was this skinny old thing but nevertheless just as gorgeous, if not more gorgeous. She was a style icon and great actress.

What I adored most about her was spirit, her endeavors outside of the acting world. She is someone I still look up to even after her death. She kind of steered me in the direction I'm headed towards with my studies and career.Audrey Hepburn is a great role model.

I think if you watch the videos below, you'll get a better understanding of who she was. Maybe you'll learn to love her just as much as I do
